Daniele Marrelli is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Siena, Italy; Department of Medicine, Surgery and Neuroscience, Unit of Surgical Oncology. Clinical and scientific activities have been particularly dedicated to Surgical Oncology, in particular to gastric cancer. Studies on clinical utility of serum tumor markers, extended lymphadenectomy, prognostic factors and translational research for gastric cancer are particularly relevant. Funding member and Scientific Secretary of the Italian Research Group for Gastric Cancer (GIRCG), which includes several Centers specialized in gastric cancer surgery, during this function coordinated 25 multicenter research studies published on international journals. He conducted an active collaboration with other international research groups: IPATIMUP (Porto), University of Munich, University of Seoul, University of San Paolo. Particular attention has been also given to the use of advanced techniques in Surgical Oncology, intraperitoneal chemohyperthermia (HIPEC) and locoregional treatments, as well as surgical treatment of colorectal, liver and pancreatic cancer. Publications include 152 papers on indexed Journals, IF: 425 (full papers); citations: 1847 (ISI WEB); h-index: 24 (ISI WEB). He is also invited Reviewer of 25 international journals.
