Dr. Cheung is one of the leading experts in laparoscopic liver resection in Hong Kong. He is also the world leading expert in the area of high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) therapy for HCC Dr. His main research interests includes liver transplant, complicated liver surgery, ALPPS procedures and minimally invasive surgery for liver cancer.
Dr. Cheung is involved in a numbers of multicenter RCT for HBP cancer treatments. He is the principle investigators of several trials including Measurement of Cancer-derived Circulating mRNA in Patients with Hepatocellular Carcinoma in cancer treatment; A Phase III, Randomized, Double blind, Dummy-Controlled Study of ThermoDox (Lyso-Thermosensitive Liposomal Doxorubicin- LTLD) in Hepatocellular Carcinoma(HCC) using standardized Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA).
He is the council member of Hong Kong Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery Society.
He serves as the editorial board members of various international journals.
