We are honored to announce that Translational Gastroenterology and Hepatology (TGH, Figure 1) has passed all the evaluation required by PubMed Centre (PMC) and is officially accepted for inclusion in PubMed/PMC, two important and extensive biomedical digital databases, which means authors publishing in TGH will enjoy maximum exposure of their research. All previously published content on TGH will be searchable within 1-2 months. TGH would like to express sincere appreciation for the enthusiastic and vigorous support and contributions from all board members, guest editors, reviewers, authors, and readers.

Launched quarterly in April 2012, TGH was originally known as Translational Gastrointestinal Cancer (Apr. 2012- Dec. 2015). The journal title changed into TGH from Jan. 2016 as to cover a broader journal scope, including gastroenterology and hepatology; to ensure a quick turnaround on manuscripts from submission to publication and to comply with the development trend of the Internet age and to allow rapid wide-spread of latest research findings among gastroenterologists and hepatologists.
As an open access and peer-reviewed e-journal, TGH has made significant progress since its inaugural. During the past five years, 299 articles have been published in TGH (Figure 2). Among them, 102 articles are included in 5 focused issues and 6 special focuses concentrating on hot topics (Table 1). These issues were guest-edited by leading experts in the field to provide their up-to-date researches and comprehensive overview of the specific topic. Considering that focused issue/special focus would make specific information more intuitive to readers, TGH is planning to publish more focused issues/special issues in the future (Table 2).

Together with all board members, guest editors and authors, the editorial team of TGH aims to develop the journal into a respected source of scientific information and a tool for international collaboration. Now being indexed in PubMed/PMC is a tremendously important step for this goal and we looking forward to working with all friends to take the journal to the next level in 2017 and beyond.
